Visit South Walton Beach Access Map: Solving a Community Problem Through Design
When designing the Visit South Walton beach access map, the goal was to create a seamless, intuitive tool that helped visitors and locals easily locate public beach access points and nearby amenities. South Walton’s 26 miles of sugar-white sand beaches attract thousands of visitors each year, but navigating beach access locations had recently become a challenge due to new rules regarding public vs private beaches.
To solve this, I designed an interactive, user-friendly map that allows visitors to quickly enter their address and discover the nearest beach access points. A color-coded system differentiates between public and private beaches. Clicking on any section of the map reveals a detailed description, giving users a clear understanding of their options before they arrive.
The new design prioritizes usability across all devices, ensuring travelers can access the tool effortlessly from their phones, tablets, or desktops. A well-structured legend below the map offers additional guidance, eliminating confusion and making navigation second nature.
By combining thoughtful UX design with a visually appealing interface, the South Walton Beach Access Map now serves as a valuable resource for visitors planning their perfect beach day. It’s more than just a map, it’s a tool that improves the South Walton community.
